here are some frequently asked questions about lipscomb's university counseling center.
all lipscomb students that are currently enrolled can come in for a consultation to see if the services we offer meet their clinical needs. services at the ucc are free. if we do not offer the level of care the student needs, we will support them in finding community resources. however, we cannot guarantee what fees will be associated with any outside services.
the initial consultation session typically lasts around 30 minutes.
if a student is assigned to see a counselor at the ucc, then each session usually lasts for 50-60 minutes.
clients come to the counseling center for various reasons: anxiety, life transition stress, relationship problems, depression, family concerns, lack of motivation, negative thinking, etc…
one of our top priorities is safeguarding your privacy. if we are contacted, we do not give out any information, or even confirm you are attending counseling, unless you have given us written and verbal authorization to release information. only certain infrequent situations mandated by law are exceptions- and those are outlined in the informed consent provided by your counselor. your counseling record is not part of your educational record and is only accessible to counseling center personnel.
