"the sac" is more than 20,000 square feet of sports and exercise facilities open to students, faculty, staff and the community.
lipscomb students and faculty/staff are free and can enjoy any of the space and equipment. alumni and community members (within walking distance of campus) can purchase memberships to use our amenities as well. the sac features weight rooms, basketball and racquetball courts, a spinning studio, a performance studio, an indoor track and locker rooms.

group fitness
group fitness is an interactive way to get in a great workout in a group setting. group fitness helps you stay accountable to your goals and allows you to build relationships on campus. group fitness instructors will provide a fun and faith-focused workout while educating students about wellness in a safe environment. students and employees are free. this is included in tuition/benefits. nonmembers pay $10 and nonmember alumni pay $5 per class.

currently, we do not have a personal trainer on staff, but the director and/or assistant director of campus recreation and wellness are here to meet with you to assess what your fitness needs are and to give you resources on how to achieve them.

fitness equipment orientation
learn and perfect your workout routine with proper instruction on how to use fitness equipment at the student activity center.
resistance training level 1
this is our traditional orientation in which a staff member will guide you through how to properly use 11 selectorized weight training equipment. this is perfect for beginners who are new to resistance training.
resistance training level 2
this option will show you the more challenging exercises that can be performed with the equipment in the weight room. a great way to learn how to creatively challenge yourself. all fitness levels are welcome.
cardio training
are you stuck doing the same cardio routine every time you workout or want to learn new cardio strategies? there are many different cardio machines available in the sac that you can learn how to use. this includes the treadmill, elliptical, spinner, rower, stairs and bikes (located on track), and more.

gym policies
- patrons must check-in at the control desk.
- patrons must have a valid lipscomb or membership id.
- a $10 drop-in guest fee may be paid for day use of the facility for those without a membership (must be accompanied by a member).
- patrons under the age of 18 are not permitted, except in special circumstances, and with parental/legal guardian supervision (parent/guardian must be an active member).
- patrons are financially responsible for equipment borrowed, as well as general equipment if misused.
- courts and studios are on a first come first serve basis, when not used by a class.
- dunking or hanging on basketball rims is prohibited.
- gym shoes and shirts, for men and women, are required.
- offensive language or behavior, roughhousing, and fighting will not be tolerated.
- facility use may be suspended or revoked at any time.
- place all personal belongings in lockers or cubbies.
- approved lipscomb programs and events have first priority.
- patrons are under video surveillance.
- lipscomb is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
weight room policies
- patrons under the age of 18 are not permitted in the weight room.
- food and drinks are not permitted — water bottles only.

- all equipment is first come first served.
- please limit use of cardio equipment to 30-minutes during peak times.
- please use collars on all free weight equipment.
- please re-rack and/or return weights and equipment to their proper storage areas after use.
- please do not drop or throw weights and/or equipment. please maintain control of weights and equipment at all times during use. if you hear a “bang” or the weight bounces on the floor, you are dropping weights. every time a weight is dropped, it endangers yourself and others around you, damages the floor, disrupts classes and offices and lowers the life expectancy of the weight. patrons who carelessly drop weights and have been asked more than once to stop dropping weights will be asked to leave the weight room. if you are performing dead lifts, please do not bang the weights on the floor.
- use spotters on all heavy lifts. campus recreation staff can assist in spotting.
- please wipe down equipment after each use.
- do not remove workout equipment from the weight room.
- please notify campus recreation staff of any equipment that is not functioning properly.
