grant lander, a junior molecular biology major from phoenix, arizona, spent ten weeks in summer 2019 doing research on alzheimer’s and parkinson’s disease at shen labs, a part of harvard university.
lander was placed at shen as part of the research experience for undergraduates program at harvard, designed to involve the student in all aspects of research with a clearly identifiable research goal. lander worked in the alzheimer’s disease division under dr. jongkyun kang.
the harvard program provides a coordinated and dynamic research community to inspire and encourage young scientists to continue on to graduate school. it emphasizes professional development workshops and seminars for a career in science and engineering.
lander has also participated in lipscomb’s study abroad program in vienna, austria, and as a rising senior he participated in lipscomb’s summer scholars program, a 10-day program providing college- level courses for high school students.
