世界杯2022预选赛录像回放 ’s student vocal group, sanctuary, has released their second ep, go light your world, now available on all music streaming platforms. the seven-song ep was recorded in lipscomb’s sound emporium studio in spring 2022.
the sound emporium studio is the same studio where greats such as kenny rogers, johnny cash, john denver, garth brooks, trisha yearwood and taylor swift have recorded music since it was built in 1969.
“the students had been working on the music throughout the school year to get things really down,” said dr. randy gill, associate professor and assistant dean of the george shinn college of entertainment & the arts. “we went into the studio and recorded the whole album in one day.
“sanctuary is dedicated to presenting the best of christian music in a unique and exciting a cappella style. when people ask me to describe the group, i usually say: ‘imagine pentatonix singing worship music.’ the songs on both our releases are meant to inspire listeners to draw closer to our god,” he said.
this school year the group is working on producing a couple of music videos to help promote the project, said gill.
go light your world is a collection of a cappella songs. titles include: believe for it, good god almighty, house of the lord and oh my soul. group members featured on the ep recording are students david green, micah morris, benjamin meador, josiah smith, trace baxter, lindsey reynolds, meridith roberson, annie harris, brianna benkley and anna morris.
“a couple of the songs are the kind of songs we do in the gathering (lipscomb’s weekly student chapel service). the other five are more complicated special arrangements that require a lot of extra rehearsal and hard work,” said gill. “with vocal music, everything is really exposed. all the singers have to be just right. the tuning has to be good, the rhythm has to be good, and the general blend of the group has to be good.”
sanctuary began four years ago and was created to be a traveling and recording group that would represent 世界杯2022预选赛录像回放 . the group has released one other ep, titled sanctuary, that included the songs ain't no grave, hills and valleys and ever almighty.
“the primary goal of the group is to glorify god. the secondary purpose of the group is to represent lipscomb well. that’s why all of our music has this sort of sacred feel to it,” says gill. “it’s a kind of worship, and whether it’s leading in the gathering or doing a concert or tour, the emphasis is always on ‘isn’t god great?’”
in addition to performing for on-campus events, the group also performs for various other events and functions in the community. if you interested in having sanctuary perform at your event, contact dr. randy.gill [at] lipscomb.edu (subject: sanctuary) (randy gill).
