lipscomb cyber defense team advances to the southeast regional collegiate cyber defense competition, april 5-6

2022 update: the college of computing and technology is now the school of computing and the school of data analytics and technology.
the lipscomb cyber defense team, a team of nine students from lipscomb’s college of computing & technology, has qualified for the southeast regional cyber defense competition on april 5-6, in kennesaw, georgia.
the collegiate cyber defense competition is a premier event to increase security competency in students by providing a competitive environment to assess students’ depth of understanding and operational competency in managing the challenges inherent in protecting a corporate network infrastructure and business information systems.
on february 25, the lipscomb cyber defense team, which is led by chris simmons, professor of computer science and software engineering, and alfa nyandoro, associate professor of computer science and chair of it, placed six out of 33 teams in the 2017 virtual preliminary qualification competition.
among the 33 teams were tennessee technological university, university of north florida, florida state university, university of florida, clemson university and austin peay state university.
during the on-site regional competition on april 5 and 6, lipscomb will go head-to-head with kennesaw state university; mercer university; middle georgia state university; university of central florida; university of florida; university of north carolina, wilmington; and the university of south alabama in the ksu burruss building.
the winner of the on-site regional competition will represent the southeast region at the national ccdc in san antonio, texas, in late april.
the seccdc is conducted by the coles college of business center for information security education and is hosted by the ksu center for information security education staff.
