with more than 30 film and 20 screenplay entries, 世界杯2022预选赛录像回放 ’s sixth annual 5 minute film festival, to be held on thursday at 7 p.m. in shamblin theatre, has certainly inspired students to use their creativity and imagination to produce a five-minute production.

the 5 minute film festival is lipscomb's premier film event and is open to any lipscomb student regardless of their major. presented by the department of cinematic arts, students have the option to submit a film in one of four categories: narrative (fiction), documentary, music video and, for the first time this year, screenplay.

with the desire to remind her audience of the power of words, junior film production major rebekah hubbell was inspired to write a screenplay about verbal abuse.

“my favorite aspect of putting together a screenplay is that you have the chance to craft a whole new space with the intent of bringing it to life and seeing it with your own eyes one day,” said rebekah hubbell, a junior film production major who decided to explore the new category by writing and entering a screenplay. “i think writing a five-minute script can be challenging because there’s not many pages to express what you want to.”

each category is judged by local film professionals and the top entries will be screened in front of a live-audience at the gala event on thursday. the screening is followed by an awards ceremony and the entire event is free and open to the public.

the grand prize-winning narrative film will receive $500 and will be screened at the 2019 nashville film festival, which is one of only 17 festivals in the world that are automatic qualifiers for academy award consideration.

other prizes include $300 for the first-place documentary, music video or screenplay selection, $100 for the second-place selection and a trophy for the third-place selection. awards are also given to best actor and actress, best cinematography, best sound design, best original music and best poster design.

junior film major monterey britzman said his favorite aspect of putting a film together is the power of creativity to influence the lives of others.

“as a film major, i am blessed with the opportunity to easily access people's emotions, their memories, and stamp stories in their minds,” said britzman. “a narrative film has so many forms with so many outcomes, you can send any message to the world.”

housed in the george shinn college of entertainment & the arts, lipscomb’s department of cinematic arts studies filmmaking with a hands-on approach. the film production bfa provides real-world instruction and expertise. its graduate studies mfa in film and creative media educates the next generation of artists to be independent, entrepreneurial filmmakers. for more information, click here.
