program overview
at our core, engineers are professional problem solvers. we see unmet needs, understand the constraints on choices, use mathematics to solve simplified models and get our hands dirty to test for solutions.
join a program where everyone knows your name. our small class sizes and elite faculty lend themselves to your personal success and challenge you to integrate faith and learning. you’ll also be taught in an environment built for engineering — our brand new building is home to small classrooms, study spaces, an innovation studio with the latest tools, cutting-edge laboratories and a machine shop.
with unique opportunities like engineering missions, professional societies, world-class partnerships and innovative design projects, you’ll thrive and grow here. and once you graduate, you’ll join your peers studying in top-ranked graduate programs or working for some of the world’s best companies.
our program is abet-accredited.
because mechanical engineers are essential to the improvement of the world we live in, they must have a broad fundamental knowledge of the way things work so that they can synthesize solutions. synthesis is the process of combining the various aspects of engineering analysis and design together to form something greater than the individual parts. because of that, our program provides you with a thorough foundation of engineering knowledge that includes solid mechanics, fluid mechanics and thermal processes followed by opportunities to explore specific areas of interest through elective courses.
senior design allows you to implement your classroom knowledge in a large-scale project. you’ll be working collaboratively with your peers over the course of your senior year in an interdisciplinary setting, bringing together mechanical, electrical and software systems. teams have competed in programs sponsored by nasa to design rockets and the society of automotive engineers to design off-road vehicles. projects vary, though — our students have also designed playgrounds for special needs children.
internships, co-op and engineering missions are encouraged — wherever you want to go, we’ll help you get there. you’ll have multiple opportunities to connect with local and national companies. students can also get valuable experience through vocational trips that allow students to partner with working professionals to solve problems in developing countries.
