julio a. rivas, born in torreon, mexico, and lived in guadalajara, mexico, until 2007. he went to school to monterrey tech, guadalajara campus, and got his bba in finance and mba with finance concentration. he moved to arlington, texas, in 2007 to pursue a phd in finance at the university of texas at arlington. he successfully defended his dissertation in the summer of 2012 and started teaching at lipscomb in the fall of 2012. at lipscomb, he has taught a wide variety of finance, economics, and international business classes, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. he has also led four international trips with mba students to buenos aires, argentina. julio also serves as faculty advisor for alpfa and faculty sponsor for the social club sigma alpha. he is also currently involved in the board of two academic organizations: society for case research and institute for global business research. in addition, he also serves in the board for two organizations: faith family medical center and kindred exchange. julio is married to beth, and they both enjoy traveling and reading in their spare time.
