biography

jean miller received a b.a. in music education and vocal performance from pepperdine university and a m.m. in vocal performance from illinois state university. jean’s secondary instrument is flute. she founded and for thirteen years directed the nashville notes, a concert band for home educated students. her community involvement includes singing in and guest conducting the woodmont hills church choir, performing and directing musicals at the antioch church of christ, and directing an annual musical play for over a decade at the teen learning center, a homeschool cooperative. jean has taught vocal technique seminars for various church music ministries and also coached diction for nashville symphony chorus. she has sung soprano solos in nashville early music ensemble and 世界杯2022预选赛录像回放 ’s early music consort throughout her career as an adjunct voice faculty member at lipscomb. jean performed the role of amahl in amahl and the night visitors at pepperdine. she has appeared as a soloist numerous times on lipscomb’s faculty and friends series, in fauré’s requiem at woodmont hills church, in lipscomb’s presentations of handel’s messiah and mendelssohn’s hymn of praise, and in the oratorio women of valor by andrea clearfield at the christian scholars’ conference. jean has taught private voice at lipscomb since 1979, and more recently, opera workshop, vocal literature, diction, directed university singers, and was music director for lipscomb’s main stage production of joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat. the 2022-23 season marks her 12th year singing with the nashville symphony chorus.
