biography
suze gilbert holds a b.s. degree in elementary education from freed-hardeman university, the m.ed. and ed.s. degree in curriculum and instruction from middle tennessee state university, and the ed.d. in curriculum and instruction with a language arts focus from tennessee state university. dr. gilbert serves lipscomb’s college of education as the lead faculty for the reading specialty and literacy graduate programs. she has been at lipscomb since 2018.
gilbert is passionate about working with current and future educators as they examine current research and best practices in order to impact prek-12 learners in both public and private schools. she teaches courses on content area reading, teaching writing, leadership in literacy and building classroom community. gilbert enjoys working in schools alongside teachers in professional development settings. in addition to working and learning with local educators, gilbert works with eastern european missions (eem) where she and bobbie solley developed a character education curriculum for educators. suze and bobbie have worked closely with ukrainian teachers and educators in kiev and odessa since 2018.
prior to lipscomb, gilbert served in the college of education at middle tennessee state university where she taught both graduate and undergraduate courses. she also served as one of the directors of the middle tennessee writing project.
