biography

harpist and musicologist dr. sarah k. crocker is adjunct professor of harp at 世界杯2022预选赛录像回放 , joining the school of music faculty in 2016. a nashville native, she can be seen performing and lecturing across the united states and abroad. dr. crocker made her debut performing debussy’s danses sacrée et profane with the north mississippi symphony orchestra, with whom she has been principal harp since 2006. she is also serves as principal harp of the tennessee philharmonic orchestra, and performs regularly as substitute principal harp with the shoals symphony orchestra, orchestra kentucky, tuscaloosa symphony orchestra, and many other orchestras and wind ensembles across the southeast. crocker is a founding member of the druid city ensemble (soprano, flute, and harp) and sticks & strings (drum set and harp) chamber groups, who have been invited to perform and give master classes at notable venues such as the st. james chapel in chicago, the national flute convention in san diego, and the american harp society national summer institute in winston salem, nc.

dr. crocker has taught abroad in buenos aires, argentina, where she was invited to perform and give master classes at the conservatorio superior de música “astor piazzolla” and “manuel de falla” and teach ethnomusicology courses on latin american music and dance with the kentucky institute for international studies. a sought-after lecturer, dr. crocker has presented workshops and lectures at american harp society national conferences in new orleans and atlanta.

in addition to her position at lipscomb, dr. crocker serves as adjunct professor of harp at middle tennessee state university, where she has served as a member of the honors college faculty and teaches courses in harp, musicology, and music theory. she is the founder and owner of hillnote music in franklin, tn, a company providing harp sales and services, wedding and event music, and private harp lessons through the hillnote harp academy. she serves as the regional director coordinator and southern regional director on the american harp society, inc. board of directors and is an editorial board member of the american harp journal. sarah has previously served on the executive committee of the american harp society, inc. and as president of the nashville chapter for many years. dr. crocker holds a b.m., m.m., and d.m.a. in harp performance with musicology cognate from the university of alabama, where she was also an instructor of ethnomusicology, musicology, and secondary harp.
