biography

scott baker wears many hats for lipscomb theatre. as the director of marketing and community outreach for the college of entertainment and the arts, he has a hand in promoting all the shows and activities the department does. as an adjunct professor he teaches classes on special skills and period work. as a theologian he serves the department by hosting talkbacks after performances and supplying dramaturgical resources when needed. as an interpreter for the deaf he is called upon sometimes to interpret shows. scott is one of a handful of experts in the country capable of interpreting the works of shakespeare into american sign language on demand. he has taught workshops on the subject and is a sought-after resource in the interpreting community.

baker is also an active actor and singer in nashville’s theatre and film communities, having recently performed the role of the friar in romeo and juliet with the nashville shakespeare festival. he is beginning to publish his work on faith and art, interpreting theatrical performances, faith and humor, and several other topics. baker is a native texan who was raised all over the world including colorado, washington, d.c., israel, and new york city. baker is married to beki baker and they are the proud parents of daughter emmaline and twin sons deacon and shepherd.
