before entering this program, students must have significant independent undergraduate research experience in molecular biology (minimum 1 full-time summer and 1 additional semester), preferably with completion of an undergraduate research methods course. students must also pass a laboratory techniques assessment. upon successful completion of laboratory techniques assessment, students may be allowed to gain credit for bms 5113 and bypass bms 5123.
