alumnus, you are welcomed and encouraged to give back to your alma mater as a volunteer.
engaging a growing alumni body that is spread across the country is no easy task. volunteers can be a tremendous asset to the staff as it reaches out to serve the bison family.
there are a multitude of ways that you can volunteer. if you are ready to lend us a hand, complete the alumni volunteer form and send us your area of interest.
the office of alumni engagement is working year round to plan gatherings and events for alumni across the nation. you can help make those events a success with your time, skills and ideas. below are examples of some of the ways you can help lipscomb spread its good news story:
- assist with event planning and promotion.
- help/coordinate contact alumni to inform them about events in your area.
- serve as a local host or greeter at events such as alumni receptions and networking events.
- host networking luncheons, socials, dinners, etc.
- recruit fellow local alumni to form a local bison network, a group of alumni in key geographic areas that promotes lipscomb in the local area through activities.
- request to serve on council committees such as the lipscomb black alumni council (lbac).
- help coordinate an alumni reunion or help others plan and execute memorable reunions.

alumni are essential partners in the duties of the office of admissions. your help allows lipscomb to make a lasting impression on students considering lipscomb as their college home. here are some simple ways you can help bring prospective students to lipscomb:
- refer a student—use this form to recommend a student whom you believe would be a good fit for lipscomb and whom lipscomb could benefit.
- identify local high school counselors—provide contact information about high school counselors.
- connect with churches—work with your local church youth group or provide appropriate contact information to plan a visit by your students to campus.

by working with the on-campus career development center, alumni can help students in their searches for internships and jobs. consider serving as a mentor, hosting a student for job shadowing, participating in a career panel or speaking at student career events. the opportunities are wide open!
- mock interviewer—volunteer to serve as a mock interviewer to help students hone their skills in job interviewing.
- career interview subject—volunteer to be an interview subject, someone a student can talk with about a specific career industry, company or job position and share valuable insight from your career perspective.
- inform the career development center about employment positions and internship opportunities available in your company.
- serve as a student club speaker—campus student organizations often seek alumni professionals as speakers to provide insight into specific careers and professional life in the "real world."

- share the news—forward info (promotions, awards, achievements, marriages, births, deaths, etc.) about your fellow bisons that you may find in the local newspaper or online publications to the alumni office so we can share the news with the alumni family via the alumni enews monthly e-newsletter or the bison notes class notes section of lipscomb now alumni magazine. submit a class note.
- parents program—if you currently have a student attending lipscomb, be sure to visit the parents program website for important information about activities and events specifically tailored for you!
