lipscomb's summer scholars program is an 8-day experience emphasizing experiential learning in and outside the classroom. this highly competitive program is specially designed to give high-achieving rising seniors the opportunity to earn college credit hours while still in high school. students selected to participate will complete real university coursework, explore nashville, and meet peers from across the country.

become part of the community that lipscomb has to offer within the diverse landscape of nashville, where your learning will extend beyond the classroom. not only will you visit all of nashville's most famous attractions—you'll also get to experience lipscomb's rich connections to nashville's wealth of professional opportunities. during the evenings, you'll participate in activities on and off campus, such as go-karting downtown, sporting events and group devotionals.

courses

for our 2024 program, courses will be offered in the following areas:

business

a course that introduces students to business by exploring an entrepreneurial perspective to the pursuit of value-creating opportunities. during the course, students will develop and execute a business model in a team and will understand how that business model can apply to all business endeavors. students will also independently develop a business idea of their own.

communications

a course in the fundamental principles of effective oral communication. special attention is given to the understanding of theory, direct messaging, interpersonal communication and the presentation of speeches.

engineering

an introduction to engineering as a field through a survey of design and problem-solving techniques. the course will provide hands-on and engaging experiences for students to learn more about the profession and disciplines within engineering. this course is primarily taught for high school students in the summer scholars program. students participating in the course will engage in a variety of activities to learn about the engineering profession, the engineering design process, and engineering as a vocation. these activities will include hands-on experiments, engineering field trips, guest speakers from industry, and real-world design challenges.

law

this course will serve as an introduction to the u.s. federal and state systems of law. it is designed to develop students’ understanding of american legal concepts and issues, expanding their knowledge of the process and politics behind legal decisions. the course will provide students with an opportunity to put teachings into practice by participating in an exercise of constitutional debate. this hands-on experience will give students the opportunity to learn about advocacy and form logical legal conclusions to real-world problems. the class also will explore areas in nashville to observe and interact with various aspects of our legal system.

psychology

an introductory course covering a variety of topics within the field of psychology such as sensation-perception, consciousness, learning and memory, motivation, emotion, development, attitudes and more.

lipscomb hca/tri-star health sciences

an introductory course designed to explore a wide variety of health science professions. the course combines active learning, hands-on laboratory experiences, and presentations focused on skills and knowledge needed across multiple health professions. these experiences are led by professional faculty from our nursing, physician assistant, nutrition, pharmacy, kinesiology/exercise science, and cardiovascular perfusion programs as well as healthcare leaders in nashville and the surrounding areas. gain invaluable real-world experience in some of the greatest healthcare facilities in the nation as nashville continues to be known as the nation’s healthcare capital. launch your path with lipscomb and be a part of the next generation of excellence in health care!

tuition & fees

tuition & fees

we want you to spend part of your summer with us! that's why we cover the cost of the course tuition for all students accepted into the lipscomb summer scholars program. by attending summer scholars, you'll be saving $3,500 for a class that you would otherwise take during the regular school year. a $1,300 program fee to cover lodging, meals and activities is the only expense for summer scholars students and their families.

a deposit holds your reservation in the program. the remaining balance will be due by june 1.
