sport analytics is a high-demand field with the potential for growth of 27% in the next five years, becoming a premiere segment of the sports industry.
lipscomb’s master of science in sport analytics degree program trains students for analytical positions in professional and collegiate sport, as well as other entertainment and sport-related careers. the program aims to enhance knowledge, skills, and abilities to manage, analyze, visualize, and interpret data of those who are seeking these careers. graduates will be equipped with the skills to excel in careers in professional and collegiate sports by working with sport marketing agencies, finance, media, and other sport and e-sport related industries.
this program’s curriculum is designed to give students a holistic view of the industry to examine how analytics can be utilized in sport marketing, sales, finance, contracts, and other competencies in the sport industry. several course offerings include:
- applied statistics
- legal and ethical considerations in sport
- consumer behavior analytics
- predictive modeling
- intellectual property and nil
additionally, the program includes built-in capstone opportunities, expert faculty mentorship, and extensive networking opportunities, further enhancing graduate employability and industry readiness.
admissions requirements
all applicants to the graduate program must submit the following:
- application with $50 nonrefundable fee
- official transcript(s) showing undergraduate degree(s) from a regionally accredited institution
- prerequisites: college algebra, statistics and introduction to business
- 2.75 cumulative grade point average on all undergraduate work
- two letters of recommendation
- personal statement (no more than 750 words) including reflections on career aspirations and educational background

sport analysts are responsible for reviewing and analyzing data, statistics and trends to provide valuable insights for sport events. this role includes tasks, such as watching game footage, offering commentary and creating written content.

as a finance or marketing director in the sport industry, individuals manage and implement various strategies to plan budgets, improve sales, and affect change for positive costs, income and efficient operations.
athletic administrator
athletic administrators are responsible for overseeing athletic institutions, programs and projects, while managing facilities, teams, and other groups to effectively promote their business through proper budgeting and planning.
