our program takes you through the foundational content of psychology while also training you to think like a scientist and develop strong communication and interpersonal skills. you will have coursework that focuses on behavior, thinking and social influences, as well as classes focusing on applied uses of psychology in practical settings. when you graduate, you will have a broad knowledge base and interpersonal skills that can be applied to future careers including graduate school or employment in a variety of settings.
faculty advisors can provide direction on additional courses based on your aspirations to attend graduate school or to seek employment. recent graduates have been accepted to graduate programs in clinical mental health counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, social work, law, physical therapy, occupational therapy and business administration.
while many types of students major in psychology, doctoral preparation is the mission of our m.s. in psychology program. if you are a current lipscomb undergraduate psychology student, this program allows you to gain early admission to the graduate program as a rising senior, take six graduate hours during your senior year, then move to full-time graduate study in the summer after your senior year. don't miss the opportunity to complete a master's degree and enter a doctoral program a year earlier.
requirements:
- must be a current lipscomb psychology student maintaining a minimum 3.0 gpa
- complete online graduate psychology application
- submit three letters of recommendation
- submit a two-page essay saying why you want to enroll in the 4+1 program and stating your goals
- submit gre scores
- interview with the m.s. program director, ajheritage [at] lipscomb.edu (dr. heritage)
