admissions requirements
we are thrilled that you are interested in pursuing one of the degrees in the school of music. the following steps must be completed before entering any of the music degree programs.

early decision
students who would like to be given priority for scholarships are highly encouraged to opt for early decision. in this process, students will submit their pre-screening video by october 15, 2022 and audition on campus on november 12. students opting for early decision will be notified about acceptance and scholarships no later than december 1.
audition dates
pre-screening audition materials deadline has been extended to january 30th, 2023.
- november 12, 2022 - on campus (this date is reserved for students who have opted for early decision)
- january 21, 2023 - on campus and virtual auditions
- february 18, 2023 - on campus and virtual auditions (last date to be considered for music scholarship)
- march 25, 2023 - virtual auditions for admission only. no scholarships will be awarded.

music scholarships
all music majors and minors may audition for scholarships. these awards are based solely on the audition, and are not tied to any other academic scholarships for which you may be eligible. in addition, instrumentalists may audition for a participation scholarship. all scholarship recipients participate in the appropriate ensemble or, for pianists, the accompanying class.

musicians and singers
musicians and singers play instruments or sing for live audiences and in recording studios.
high school teachers
high school teachers help prepare students for life after graduation. they teach academic lessons and various skills that students will need to attend college and to enter the job market.
kindergarten and elementary school teachers
kindergarten and elementary school teachers instruct young students in basic subjects, such as math and reading, in order to prepare them for future schooling.
middle school teachers
middle school teachers educate students, typically in sixth through eighth grades. they help students build on the fundamentals they learned in elementary school and prepare them for the more difficult curriculum they will face in high school.
conductors and composers
conductors lead orchestras and other musical groups during performances and recording sessions. composers write and arrange original music in a variety of musical styles.
